CCAG Newsletter - 08 June 2003
Another village meeting was called by CCAG to report back to the people of Happisburgh on the meeting with DEFRA minister Elliot Morley MP in London.
It is important to note that despite returning from London empty handed, the ministerial meeting can only be described as a success, if only in the terms of its' happening. In itself a major achievement.
The CCAG public meeting which took place on Friday 31 May was indeed a success. Residents were greatly heartened to hear of a number of avenues which CCAG have been exploring, one of which is that for many months we have been investigating the possibility of getting H.M. Government into court to answer for their inaction over coastal defences. This is now a very real possibility, as we have sought expert advice which now tells us that there are, it is believed, various ways to achieve our legal goal. We shall be pressing that ahead as soon as is practicable.
Other ways forward were discussed including self help, again the reaction to this was very positive, and CCAG is currently investigating the best way forward in fundraising for protection. More of that as and when.
