The Kelling to Lowestoft Ness Shoreline Management Plan 2004 was released for public consultation on 15th December 2004. The SMP and supporting documents are available online at http://www.northnorfolk.org/acag/default_smp.html We would urge anyone with an interest in our coastline to take the opportunity to respond to this potentially catastrophic plan to abandon the majority of the North Norfolk coast.
The series of four public meetings at Happisburgh, Bacton, Mundesley and Overstrand to discuss the new Shoreline Management Plan held by CCAG in conjunction with North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb were very well attended. Over the four meetings we managed to address almost 1000 people. Malcolm reports that he has received many telephone calls, letters and personal visits from some of the attendees all very positive. It seems the meetings were a great success – to read more visit http://www.happisburgh.org.uk/content/ccag_smp_meetings.doc A further meeting has been requested at Potter Heigham which will take place on March 9th.
Hanson Aggregate Marine Ltd is applying to extend a dredging licence just off Great Yarmouth for a further 15 years. There is no doubt that dredging is both extremely harmful to the marine environment and adversely affects coastal process causing erosion. Please help by writing to the address on the public notice http://www.happisburgh.org.uk/content/extraction_licence and most importantly your MP http://www.faxyourmp.com It is vital that an end be put to this onerous practice which injures so much and so many for the profit and gain of so few.
