Beach access at Walcott to the North of Happisburgh.

The end of the sea wall at Ostend, and the last access ramp to the Beach this side of Cart Gap.

Properties and cliff at Ostend surviving well. This is what the revetment should look like, and used to at Happisburgh. A nice amount of sand in front and behind.

Tanks traps - remnants from the wartime defences of the region. First sign of a difference from 2004 - more sand on the beach, and some properties built on top of the cliff

Only just a few hundreds yards along, and the first damaged section, more signs of increased beach level, but revetments still getting damaged.

In places hardly any structure remains.

Not the same section of clif as in 2004, but one of the few signs of recent falls

A 'cut' caused by a collapsed wartime emplacement is a precarious place to decend the cliff. The rise in beach level is very obvious in comparison to the 2004 picture.

It was almost impossible to locate the site of the 2004 picture because there's more beach.

The steel foundations at the foot of the revetments are still exposed, there's more beach, but see hoe much timber is missing!

Throughout, compared to 2004 the cliff seems not to have seen much action from the sea, but it is a different season.

Site of previous collapses now getting overgrown.

The groynes are still doing their job trying to catch the sand as it drifts down the shore.

At the northern end of the caravan park, where locals have attempted to replenish sections lost to the sea.

Another wartime relic. Again, higher beach and signs of a more timber gone.

And finally at Happisburgh, where even more of the revetments are missing.

New for 2006 - a shot I hope won't change much over the coming years!

The steps - notice how the beach level is almost identical to Feb 2004 - whereas further back it was several feet higher?
