Visiting Happisburgh

It seems summer will soon be with us again. That means, hopefully, we shall soon be welcoming many visitors to Happisburgh.
CCAG is pleased to welcome everyone for a safe visit to our beautiful area. With this in mind, we have a few suggestions to help visitors stay safe, particularly families with children, and an ever increasing number of school parties presumably on Geography trips. CCAG are hugely concerned that you enjoy your visit, but even more concerned that everyone remains safe. Accordingly, please note the following recommendations:
- Please stay well clear of the top edge of the cliff - it is even more unstable than it appears. Warning signs and barriers should be observed, but occasionally they are missing from the most perilous stretches - found later at the bottom.
- Only use the steel steps to the northwest of the lifeboat shed to access the beach. Any other path down the cliff should be avoided.
- Please use the superb beaches to the northwest of the steps (to your left as you are looking out to sea), and avoid the area between the ramp and the end of Beach Road. The beach to the southeast of Beach Road can be accessed via Cart Gap.
- Do not climb on the remains of the lifeboat ramp, the broken concrete at its base, or any of the remains of defences between the ramp and the end of Beach Road.
We are particularly proud of the fact that throughout the erosion and access problems, our lifeboat
was on station or ready to go at all times. Although now temporarily based a mile or so down the
coast at Cart Gap, the RNLI station itself in Happisburgh is still manned by volunteers most of the time, and
open for the sale of souvenirs. Everyone is welcome to browse around and of course purchase a memento
of their visit. The annual Lifeboat Day Fete will take place here as usual on the first Sunday in
August.
