PROPOSED EXTRACTION OF MARINE AGGREGATE FROM AREA 401/2 (GREAT YARMOUTH): RENEWAL OF EXISTING LICENCE

Hanson Aggregates Marine Ltd (HAML) has applied to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) for a Government View to continue to extract a maximum of 2 million tonnes per annum over a 15 year period from Area 401/2 which is located approximately 22km East of Great Yarmouth. The application is for the renewal of an existing licence to dredge this area which is set to expire on 31 st March 2006.
Area 401/2 has two sub-areas, A and B and covers a total area of 50.96km2. The boundaries of the extraction area are defined by the following co-ordinates. Co-ordinates are in WGS84 - degrees decimal minutes to 4 decimal places.

Before a Government View is issued, the application must go through the Government View Procedure, a comprehensive consultation process co-ordinated by the ODPM. A favourable Government View will enable the Company to apply to the Crown Estate for a Production Licence.
An Environmental Statement and associated Coastal Impact Study have been lodged with the following organisations:
- Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Planning and Development Department, Town Hall, Hall Plain, Great Yarmouth NR30 2QF.
- Norfolk County Council, County Hall Martineau Lane, Norwich NRI 2DH.
- Suffolk Coastal District Council, Melton Hill, Woodbridge Suffolk IPI2 IAU.
- Waveney District Council, Town Hall, High Street, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR32 IHS.
The plans are available for public inspection and comments on the proposal are invited and should be submitted to HAML clo Emu Ltd, I Mill Court, The Sawmills, Durley, Southampton, Hampshire, S0322EI. Any comments should be submitted to this address no later than 10 weeks from the date of this advertisement.
