CCAG Newsletter - 30 November 2002
Recent events have proved rather momentous for Happisburgh; decisions made by the relevant authorities are both good and bad. Let's deal with the good first:
On Wednesday 27th November, the Executive Committee of North Norfolk District Council met and considered the recommendations of their officers. The outcome of the meeting was that they approved emergency funding of material to install what amounts to a mini scheme to protect properties at immediate risk for the short term. This we are told will be put into effect circa mid December.
The bad news is that the scheme proper, held up by the two objectors, is now defunct. It is now considered to be non viable on both technical and financial grounds. It would appear that the objectors and their mentors have achieved their aim of scuppering the sea defence proposals for Happisburgh.
That said, with your help we will continue the fight for decisive action by HM Government to provide a proper, effective solution to Happisburgh's still unresolved sea defence problem.
